Our client, a multinational semiconductor and software design company seeks a Java Enterprise Performance Engineer for a 3 month contract initially, based in Cambridge (Hybrid), Inside IR35.

The Userspace Performance team is looking for a skilled Java Enterprise Engineer to help with crafting Java enterprise workloads that will expose areas of improvement for performance of Java applications running on their platforms.
You would be working to create large-scale Java workloads using your preferred frameworks to uncover Java-related performance issues on Servers.
The team would then work with you to characterize the performance issues and help drive future performance improvements.

Responsibilities:
Crafting new demo applications in order to explore what kind of performance issues exist when running Java applications platforms.
Collecting data about how above workloads run and using it to demonstrate desired behaviors.
Detailing the workloads produced and any associated findings, sharing knowledge within the team and wider.

Required Skills and Experience:
You have extensive experience in writing Java Enterprise applications in a couple of different frameworks.
You understand how your code impacts the performance of the application.
Problem solving and debugging skills are areas in which you have proficiency
We expect a professional, hardworking, and flexible approach to work, with a flair for creative lateral thinking and problem-solving.
Strong interpersonal skills are vital for success; we are looking for excellent written and spoken English, along with the ability to document findings and clearly explain your work to both the team and wider stakeholders.

"Nice To Have" Skills and Experience:
We highly value experience with writing Java applications for diverse platforms including different CPU architectures.
We desire knowledge about JVM internals like JIT compilation, garbage collection, memory allocation
You are proficient at tuning the performance of Java applications.
