Job title: Accountant

Location: Windsor/Hybrid - 1-2 days per week in the office

Duration: 6 months initially

Salary: £45,000 - fixed term contract

The role:

This role provides the Financial Control Team with robust and accurate financial reporting of current and historical performance. They work with the business teams, facilitating interaction and knowledge transfer where required between the business teams and wider finance teams.

Responsibilities:

  • Accountable for all transactional, accounting & reporting of current/historical activity across the organisation including coordination and performance of all of month end and post-month end accounting activities.
  • Month end accountability to include journal posting, PO accruals, provisions, capex accounting, commentary on monthly performance and query resolution.
  • Carrying out balance sheet reviews and reconciliations across the business, pro-actively identifying and communicating risks and opportunities upwards.
  • Assist with tangible and intangible fixed assets, depreciation, amortisation and impairment review.
  • Provide monthly and half year reporting to group and supporting with group queries.
  • Support the business to help report performance against the Group Annual Plan and forecasts.
  • Understand and apply the appropriate accounting policies, including application of IFRS 15 and IFRS 16 to accurately account for customer contracts as well as IFRS3 and IAS16 to accurately account for our acquisitions and capital expenditure.
  • Assisting the Financial Control Team with maintaining the financial control framework, including the continual development of the financial control environment and ownership of key financial controls.
  • Support the Financial Control Team by contributing to or leading projects to support the business to drive reporting improvements to enhance understanding of financial data.
  • Pro-actively identify improvements to our processes and opportunities for simplification, standardisation, automation and integration of financial systems. Drive towards automated and enhanced reporting, leveraging Office365 tools (eg Power Query, Power BI).
  • Develop strong relationships with key stakeholders in the business and Finance.
  • Support the twice-yearly external audit and all statutory audits of the legal entities.

Requirements:

  • Proven ability to manage multiple activities and prioritise workload.
  • Recently qualified accountant (CIMA or ACCA or ACA). Part-qualified with experience would potentially be considered.
  • A drive for continuous improvement and stakeholder support.
  • Have an analytical mindset to be able to interpret data and produce meaningful insight.
  • Pro-active, flexible, and motivated.
  • Advanced excel skills.
  • Knowledge of Power Query and Power BI would be an advantage.
