Senior Engineering Manager

Glasgow (Remote First)

Up to £110,000

Overview

Our client is a well-regarded organisation in the education technology sector, looking to bolster their engineering leadership team with this key hire. They have a presence in the US, India and UK and they offer a suite of products which are used by millions of students, predominantly in the USA.

They are looking to hire a Senior Software Engineering Manager to lead multiple disparate engineering teams with a headcount of around 30, as well as providing guidance and leadership for existing engineering managers. You will work closely with other senior stakeholders and product teams to inform the future direction of the product, based on customer feedback and industry trends - you don't have to be an expert in education technology, but you will become one!

Responsibilities

  • Provide overall leadership for two squads (8-16 people)
  • Act as a champion of standards and processes across various development frameworks, tools, design patterns, source code, test, and security standards.
  • Support with discovery, design, and documentation expectations.
  • Take responsibility for technical standards, policies and processes across the engineering function.

Requirements

  • Demonstrable experience developing strategic programme plans, roadmaps, and estimations, including forecasting capital investments and projects.
  • You will have shown leadership in executing both short and long-term strategic and should be able to make strategic technical recommendations, based on ROI for the business.
  • Proficient in modern web application development technologies including HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, REST, Microservice Architecture, React, Java, C#, ASP.NET, .NET Core.
  • Commercial ability to develop, configure and deploy automation required for improving the performance and overall availability of cloud services.
