The Crown Inn is a bustling village pub known for its hearty food and welcoming atmosphere. We take pride in serving freshly prepared, locally sourced dishes to our guests. Our kitchen is a fast-paced, high-energy environment, and we re looking for a skilled Sous Chef to join our talented team.

Role Overview:

As a Sous Chef at The Crown Inn, you will work closely with the Head Chef to deliver high-quality food in a busy kitchen. You will support with managing the kitchen team, ensuring smooth service, and maintaining high standards of food preparation, presentation, and cleanliness. This is a great opportunity for someone looking to develop their skills in a supportive and dynamic environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist the Head Chef in menu planning, food preparation, and creating daily specials.
  • Must be able to demonstrate a high level of culinary skill.
  • Oversee kitchen operations to ensure food is prepared and presented to a high standard.
  • Supervise kitchen staff and help manage their performance and development.
  • Ensure kitchen hygiene and food safety standards are adhered to at all times.
  • Help with stock management, ensuring efficient use of ingredients and minimizing waste.
  • Step up in the absence of the Head Chef, running the kitchen independently.
  • Work in a fast-paced environment and maintain composure during peak times.
Skills & Experience:
  • Proven experience as a Sous Chef or in a similar kitchen role.
  • Passion for preparing high-quality, fresh food.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Knowledge of food safety and hygiene regulations.
  • Flexibility to work weekends and evenings.
  • A positive and proactive attitude, with a desire to grow and develop within the role.
