Datacentre Engineer

Location: Macmerry, East Lothian

Start Date: ASAP - 6 month contract

Shift Pattern: Rota of early/late shift

Payrate: £27.99 per hour

On-call Requirement: Out of hours including weekends (1 in 4)

Travel Requirement: May need to travel between 2 local Datacentres, but not on a regular basis

Role Overview: As an Associate Contractor, you will be responsible for:

  • Providing 3rd Level Hardware break fix to HPE X86 estate.
  • Delivering full IMAC service (install/decommission/moves) across both Datacentres using customer and manufacturer tools such as Part Surfer, Intelligent Provisioning, CMDB, and ServiceNow.
  • Offering smart hands service to the IT Security team, including initial troubleshooting up to replacing entire units through an RMA process, installing, and providing base configuration for replacement devices to allow IT Security to obtain remote access.
  • Managing tapes (ejects/loads) for the Remote Backup team.

Requirements: To be successful in this role, you should have:

  • Previous experience in Datacentres.
  • Good customer service skills.
  • Flexible attitude.
  • Enjoys working as part of a team and also has the ability to use own initiative.
