The Senior Advisor role requires extensive industry experience at senior levels, particularly in traded risk or wholesale banking. The role involves providing independent advice and challenge to support policy and supervision teams, leveraging expertise and networks to assess sector-wide and firm-specific risks. The Senior Advisor will engage with key stakeholders and contribute to high-profile supervisory priorities, ensuring informed decision-making.

This role is part time for 3 days per week.

Security Clearance: this role will sponsor SC Clearance

Key accountabilities:

  • Provide expert advice and challenge to policy and supervision teams on wholesale banking and traded risk
  • Support supervisors in assessing risks and key issues within individual firms and the broader financial system
  • Contribute to the organisation's response to sector-wide risks and high-profile firm-specific supervision
  • Advise executives on key challenges facing firms and the financial sector
  • Participate in interview panels for senior management roles at the organisation's regulated firms
  • Provide independent challenge on decision-making panels.

Key requirements

  • Experience of Traded, Market and Counterparty risk, or wholesale credit risk gained by operating strategically at Senior Executive and/or board level.
  • A broad understanding of relevant market practices in investment banking or wholesale banking.
  • Experience at board level in executive leadership roles in investment banking firms, banks with significant wholesale activities, or equivalent roles in relevant advisory firms
  • Previous experience at operating at C-suite or partner level in an advisory firm.
  • Familiarity with the concepts and frameworks relating to prudential supervision and risk management in the banking sector.
