Junior Java Developer - JP Morgan - Glasgow - Perm Consultancy role - Onsite

We are seeking a Junior Java Developer to join JP Morgan via Robert Walters Workforce Consultancy where you will work within the Employee Platform space. You will serve as a seasoned member of an agile team to design and deliver trusted market-leading technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable way. You'll be responsible for carrying out critical technology solutions across multiple technical areas within various business functions in support of the firm's business objectives.

Job responsibilities

  • Executes standard software solutions, design, development, and technical troubleshooting to build solutions or break down technical problems
  • Writes secure and high-quality code using the syntax of at least one programming language with limited guidance
  • Designs, develops, codes, and troubleshoots with consideration of upstream and downstream systems and technical implications
  • Applies knowledge of tools within the Software Development Life Cycle toolchain to improve the value realized by automation
  • Applies technical troubleshooting to break down solutions and solve technical problems of basic complexity
  • Gathers, analyzes, and draws conclusions from large, diverse data sets to identify problems and contribute to decision-making in service of secure, stable application development
  • Learns and applies system processes, methodologies, and skills for the development of secure, stable code and systems
  • Adds to team culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and respect

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Formal training or certification on system design concepts and expanding applied experience
  • Hands-on practical experience delivering system design, application development, testing, and operational stability
  • Experience in developing, debugging, and maintaining code preferably in a large corporate environment with one using Java and database querying languages
  • Experience across the whole Software Development Life Cycle
  • Exposure to agile methodologies such as CI/CD, Application Resiliency, and Security
  • Emerging knowledge in software applications and technical processes within a technical discipline (eg, cloud, artificial intelligence, machine learning, mobile, etc.)
  • Backend Technology - Java, Spring, NoSQL ( MongoDB, Cassandra )

Desirable skills but not required:

  • Exposure to cloud technologies (AWS, kubernetes)
  • Experience in UI development with experience in React or Angular, TypeScript, CSS, Micro Frontend Development, and JavaScript
  • Experience in architecture and design of microservices
  • Learn new skills and keep up with industry innovations to deliver solutions to automate manual or cumbersome work
  • Unit Testing, Mocking, Performance Testing (eg Junit, Mokito, Blazemeter)
  • Monitoring Tools (eg Splunk, Dynatrace, Grafana, etc)
