Network Engineer wanted in Chester

(CCNA, Wireless, Network Engineer)

Rate: £325 Per Day (Inside IR35)

Duration: 9 months Initially

Location: Chester, Cheshire

Purpose:

Join a small, IT managed service team, which incorporates an in-house communications support function alongside some outsourced services. This network engineer will be responsible for the implementation and operation of all voice and data communications systems, ensuring their optimal performance and reliability.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide incident and problem management for supported systems.
  • Install, set up, and test equipment, working with vendors and external teams.
  • Ensure effective change and asset management for supported systems.
  • Monitor systems and produce quantified performance metrics.
  • Assist in ensuring compliance with governance standards and best practices.

Main Accountabilities and Responsibilities:

  • Manage the operation of voice, video, and network services.
  • Provide support for telephony, network patching, LAN, WAN, Wi-Fi, and video conferencing.
  • Ensure changes are accurately logged, approved, and documented within the CMDB.
  • Generate reports on system performance and maintain monitoring protocols.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Degree in Information and Communications Technology or equivalent experience.
  • Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) in Routing & Switching, Voice, or Security (or equivalent experience).
  • Strong understanding of IT service requirements and vendor evaluation.
  • Knowledge of ITIL methodology (preferred but not essential).
  • Experience managing LAN and WAN networks for voice and data communications.
  • Detailed knowledge of Cisco networking, including Routers, Switches, and wireless LAN systems.
  • Expertise in Cisco voice communication systems.
  • Proven ability to monitor, report, and optimize network performance.
