We are looking for an experienced F5 BIG-IP Network Engineer to join a government organisation for a 9-month contract (with potential for extension). This role offers the opportunity to work with cutting-edge F5 solutions, helping to manage and optimise network infrastructure. Hybrid work with occasional onsite travel to Dublin required.
Key Responsibilities:
- Configuring and Optimizing F5 BIG-IP Appliances: Manage the setup and maintenance of F5 devices, ensuring efficient load balancing and traffic management.
- Diagnosing and Resolving Technical Issues: Troubleshoot F5-related issues to maintain high performance and reliability in production environments.
- Monitoring Infrastructure: Proactively oversee F5 systems, identifying and addressing issues before they impact operations.
- Implementing Security Measures: Enforce security protocols on F5 appliances to protect network integrity and data.
- Collaborating with Cross-Functional Teams: Work alongside network engineers, DevOps, and system administrators to document processes and configurations.
- Utilizing Automation Tools: Streamline tasks and enhance efficiency through automation with tools like Ansible, Python, and iRules Scripting.
- Palo Alto & Juniper Firewalls: While F5 experience is the primary focus, a strong understanding of Palo Alto Networks Firewalls is also critical. You will be required to leverage Palo Alto Firewalls in Tandem with F5 systems, ensuring seamless integration, security measures, and network performance across both platforms.
What You Will Ideally Bring:
- Extensive hands-on experience with F5 BIG-IP products in a network or security engineering role.
- Strong Palo Alto Networks Firewall experience, with an ability to configure, optimise, and troubleshoot Firewalls alongside F5 appliances.
- Familiarity with other related technologies such as Cisco.
- F5 Certified Technology Specialist (F5-CTS) certification is highly desirable.
- Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) certification for foundational networking knowledge (optional but beneficial).
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail in technical environments.
- Experience with automation tools such as Ansible, Python, or iRules Scripting to enhance efficiency.
