Network Security Engineer (Akamai) - 6 months - Hybrid (London) - Inside IR35

Hamilton Barnes is partnered with a global consultancy seeking an experienced Network Security Engineer to support the design, implementation, and maintenance of content delivery and web security solutions. This role focuses on working with Akamai services, cloud networking, and security infrastructure to ensure optimal performance and compliance.

The six-month contract falls inside IR35 and requires 1 day per week onsite at the client's office in London. This is an excellent opportunity to work on high-impact projects with cross-functional teams, supporting core engineering, product, and data initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, implement, and maintain content delivery and web security solutions, including Akamai services (Property Manager, Cloudlets, WAF, DataStream, Security Policy, PKI).
• Troubleshoot network issues and manage escalations to ensure timely and effective resolution.
• Maintain network security policies adhering to audit standards (ISO, PCI), ensuring compliance and robust security posture.
• Review and implement change requests for network, application delivery, and vendor-proposed solutions.
• Oversee CICD network delivery across cloud and content platforms, ensuring seamless integration and deployment.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align Akamai solutions with business needs and drive continuous improvement.

What You Will Ideally Bring:

• Strong network engineering experience with ITIL and Agile methodologies.
• Strong knowledge of CDN technologies, specifically Akamai Kona & WSA as well as Layer 7 Firewalls (Palo Alto, Check Point).
• Experience with SSE/SASE technologies (PAN Prisma Access) and DNS/SMTP reputation management.
• Proficiency in routing protocols (OSPF, EIGRP, BGP) and network fundamentals (TCP/IP, DHCP, VLANs).
• Hands-on experience with CICD platforms (GitHub, Bitbucket) and cloud networking (AWS, Terraform).
• Familiarity with SSL/PKI management, IPSec/Client VPNs, and Firewall administration.
• Knowledge of Atlassian tools (Jira, Confluence) and SNMP monitoring tools (Datadog NDM/NPM).
• Proven ability to interpret and implement network and security-related changes.
