Job Title: WAN Implementation Engineer
Location: Hybrid, 1 day per week in a London office
Employment Type: 6-Month Contract (Inside IR35)
Weekend Work: Migration tasks are primarily scheduled for Saturdays, with occasional Sunday work as required.
Must have hands-on experience working with large carrier-grade networks and service provider WAN architectures.
About the Role:
We are looking for experienced WAN Implementation Engineers with a strong background in service provider environments to support a large-scale network migration. The role involves transitioning from the Legacy network to the new infrastructure, focusing on WAN technologies within a service provider WAN environment. If you have hands-on experience working with large carrier-grade networks and service provider WAN architectures, this opportunity is ideal for you.
The project primarily involves Layer 2 and Layer 3 VPN migrations, requiring engineers who are confident in executing WAN transformations in highly complex, live production environments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Hands-on WAN implementation and execution of network migration tasks within a service provider environment.
- Configure and support WAN technologies such as OSPF/IS-IS, BGP, MPLS VPNs, QoS, Multicasting, and VPWS, ensuring seamless integration and performance.
- Conduct device replacements and Router code upgrades in production environments.
- Lead network migration activities with minimal disruption to critical services.
- Plan and execute capacity upgrades and network optimizations, ensuring service continuity.
- Work closely with internal teams and third-party vendors to coordinate network changes and resolve implementation challenges.
- Maintain accurate documentation of network configurations and contribute to performance monitoring and continuous improvements.

- Migration Scope: Transitioning from Legacy to new, focusing on service provider WAN networks, Layer 2 and Layer 3 VPNs.
- Weekend Work: Migrations primarily take place on Saturdays, with occasional Sunday tasks as required.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Proven experience in service provider WAN networks, working on large-scale implementations and migrations.
- Expertise in OSPF/IS-IS, BGP, MPLS VPNs, QoS, and Multicasting.
- Strong hands-on experience in Router upgrades, device replacements, and WAN transformations.
- Familiarity with runbook-driven implementations in live service provider environments.
- Ability to document network configurations and monitor WAN performance.
Preferred but not Mandatory:
- Basic automation skills using Ansible for network configurations.
